Projects

The Hellenic National Audiovisual Archive participates in a significant number of projects based on its role as a national aggregator. Indicatively:

• Represents the Hellenic Republic to the European Commission’s Member States’ Expert Group on digitization and digital preservation.
• Participates in the implementation of Video Active and EUScreen projects, financed by the European Commission.
• Deploys a sophisticated Project Portfolio within the framework of Community Support Framework 2007-2013:

o 1. Implementation based on Cooperation Agreement with Information Society S.A.
 1.1. Collection, preservation and public offering of existing and newly produced digital audiovisual material of national importance: this project includes the establishment of the National Competence Center of Digitization, Digital Preservation, Documentation, Standardization and Research, implementing the European Commission’s [COM(2008)513] strategy for the digitization of cultural heritage; 33 projects with a budget of €35,000,000, the 1st financing application has already been submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Hellenic Republic.
 1.2. Digital utilization on the informational and cultural content of the Hellenic tourism product.

o 2. Implementation based on Cooperation Agreement with the Secretariats General of Communication and Information of the Hellenic Republic:
 2.1. Collection, digitization, documentation and digital utilization of audiovisual archives of national importance that are located in Southeast Europe and the Balkans

o 3. Implementation managed internally
 3.1. Creation of a national registry of audiovisual collections
 3.1.1. Located in the Hellenic Republic
 3.1.2. Located abroad
 3.2. Technology + content bridging and follow-up
 3.2.1. Harmonization of the National Competence Center with the results of Project Impact
 3.2.2. Scientific foundations for the technological evolution of audiovisual archives
 3.2.3. Harmonization of the database of the State Film Archive with the World Digital Library of UNESCO
 3.2.4. Scientific documentation of technological methods for diffusion of digital audiovisual material in education
 3.2.5. Scientific documentation of methods to create targeted digital audiovisual material for education
 3.3. Archived audiovisual material sales
 3.3.1. Dynamic pricing for services offered by audiovisual archives
